Together with Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks, Physical Theater Festival is returning to our favorite park for an opening day celebration of the 11th edition of the festival. Join friends, neighbors and festival artists for a joyful afternoon at in Nichols Park featuring special visitors from the Brood XIX Cicada Delegation*!
*All entertainment and workshops at our Opening day Celebration are free and for children and adults to enjoy together.

A captivating Live Art adventure for children and adults. Experience “Opening Eyes of Sound” through the live music of Ben Kinsinger and Eric Novak, and embark on a mesmerizing "Flowing" with dancers Maeve McGale and Sherry Shuo Wang. "Weave Sight" into "E," the award-winning installation by Emair Yimei Zhu, and step into the magical realm of the Wishing Tree. DC Wray, join Mr. DC Wray as we explore Hip hop dance from through the ages. This is fun with all friends and family. There will be an interactive workshop and to finish off the evening a live performance by Dancer DC Wray for all to enjoy. Dylan DC Wray is a Chicago based artist who specializes in a variety of styles of dance. His main focus is bringing people together through community building and dance.
Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team, featured on the NBC hit reality competition series “America’s Got Talent (season 8),” is a professional gymnastics troupe consisting of talented young men and boys from the Chicago area. Performances include amazing acrobatic stunts and tricks inside twirling jump ropes, catapulting off mini trampolines and thundering tumbling routines with impeccable timing.
Professional Ringling Brothers Circus Acrobatic Performer and Coach Tim Shaw has dedicated 20+ years to the inner city youth of Chicago. Through Tim’s positive impact, many young adults have not only turned their lives around in the process, but become professional polished gymnasts, entrepreneurs, business men and women, and build beautiful families of their own.
